Important announcement

Green light from Accuro members

I’m pleased to announce that Accuro and UniMed are one step closer to combining memberships, following a positive second vote by the Accuro membership on the 20th November.

This initiative is part of our long-term strategic growth plan and helps us deliver on our promise of keeping people in lifelong good health. It’s an exciting milestone for UniMed.

Please note that the process of transferring Accuro members to UniMed will not affect your current health cover with UniMed and you will continue to receive the same cover and benefits.

Why are the UniMed and Accuro memberships combining?

The Accuro transfer will result in a combined membership of over 140,000 and a team of nearly 100 staff, making us the country’s third largest health insurer, operating under two brands.

This scale means we will be able to improve services, provide better value, and create the opportunity for more product and service innovation in the future.

What are the next steps?

Now that Accuro members have approved the proposal, the next step is for a portfolio transfer application to be made to the Reserve Bank of New Zealand – a process that is likely to take until early next year. If approval is received, the Accuro transfer to UniMed will take effect and Accuro members will become members of UniMed.

A copy of the media statement by UniMed and Accuro can be found here. If you have any questions, you can email me at ceo@unimed.co.nz. We will keep you updated on developments over the next few months.

Wow, what a month November has been for us, here at UniMed. On top of the exciting news about Accuro, we have just launched a new health partnership with Snap Fitness and 9Round fitness, to help you get in shape for a busy summer.

As a member, you get access to either 30 days free at Snap Fitness or an introductory special at 9Round. You can read more further on in this issue.

As the weather heats up, it reminds me how much I love November. It truly feels like the beginning of summer, with the best still yet to come. There are so many benefits to getting outside, and even just five minutes of sunlight on your arms, hands and face two to three times a week can bring a much needed boost of vitamin D.

With that being said, we still need to remain vigilant about our skin and getting it checked. As a member, you are eligible for 20% off a MoleMap check, which is a great discount on a much-needed service that can help detect and prevent the risk of getting melanoma.

I am excited to say that we are doing our first ever Member giveaway and have two full body skin checks to be won. Keep reading to find out how to enter.

If you’d like to chat through anything in the health, wellness or preventative care space, please feel free to email me anytime at ceo@unimed.co.nz.
