A message from our CEO
|
|
As a not-for-profit society, our core purpose is to keep working New Zealanders and their whānau in life-long good health.
Early intervention and improving health outcomes are key focus areas for us as we complete our annual review of the benefits available to our Members.
We are delighted to introduce a range of proactive wellbeing benefits, which we will share more about over the next few months when they are ready to launch. As a sneak peek, you can expect:
- Bowel screening kits
- An app to help detect skin cancer
- Coaching programme for people living with cancer
- Nutrition support
- Fitness and recovery support
- Ask a GP virtual service.
Alongside our annual review of benefits, we have also completed a review of premiums for Members who are insured individually with us (not part of a group insurance scheme). More information is available on our website.
|
We acknowledge that health insurance premiums have increased significantly over recent times and that any further increases will be unwelcome.
We are implementing strategies to reduce the escalating cost of claims now and in the future.
As usual, you will be notified in advance of the specific changes to your premium and benefits.
Thank you for your continued membership.
Ngā mihi,
Lynne Hayman
Interim CEO

Simple ways to move more during winter
Colder months offer unique opportunities to weave movement into our daily lives in simple ways.
🚗 Park further away from work or the shops. Those extra steps add up, and the brisk walk will wake you up on a cold morning.
🏢 Take the stairs instead of the lift. It’s a quick way to get your heart rate up and warm your body.
☕ Stand up and stretch every hour. Set a reminder to stand, stretch, or take a short walk around your workplace or home. It helps circulation and keeps you limber.
💻 Do chair exercises. Simple movements like leg lifts, seated marches, or desk push-ups can make a big difference.
🚶♀️Get outdoors during your lunch break to help you catch some daylight and stay active.

UniMed Rules being updated
|
|
We are undergoing an extensive review of the UniMed Rules – the first of this scale since 2012.
While our Rules have served us well over many years, it is time to ensure our Rules are fit for purpose and provide the best governance for our society and Members as we navigate changes within the health sector.
|
Any proposed changes will be discussed with Members and voted on at a general meeting.
We will share updates as this work progresses.
